HEAD USHER DUTIES
Before the
Service:
The Head Usher
should arrive no later than 10:45 am.
-
Turn on lights in
Sanctuary.
-
Turn on Heat/A.C.
as necessary.
-
Turn on
Microphones. (Switch on Balcony)
-
Arrange for an
Acolyte for lighting/extinguishing candles, assist young children when
lighting matches or using the brass lighter.
-
Candles should be lit during
the organ prelude and extinguished during the Choral Response.
-
If no Acolyte, light candles
prior to the organ prelude and extinguish after the service.
-
Arrange for 4 ushers to
collect offering.
-
Be on hand in the
Narthex for anyone in need of assistance
coming up the front steps or getting out of their cars.
-
Assist in greeting and handing
out bulletins.
-
Identify visitors, ask them to
sign the registration book.
If they are not available, advise another acting Elder.
-
Count the number in attendance
and log in the book located in the wooden chair.
After the Service:
-
Close windows and doors if
necessary.
-
Turn off the lights/heat/A.C.
in the Sanctuary, Basement and Bannerman Building.

Lock doors to Bannerman
Building.
If you are unable to act as the
head usher on a designated Sunday, please find a replacement.
